 Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why should I learn KOBIDO?

A: We offer some of the most comprehensive, detailed educational materials and training in the industry. KOBIDO is a traditional Japanese art, and it takes years to learn and a lifetime to master. If you are planning on trying to learn these techniques in a few-day workshop, you need to be aware that KOBIDO is not a skill that can be mastered in short time.

If you plan on earning a living or improving your business by performing the KOBIDO art, you can't afford anything but the highest quality instruction available.

A two or three day workshop may be inexpensive, but that alone will not give you enough skill to increase your income or make you able to earn a living giving facials.

Of course, more extensive training requires a greater initial investment. But the initial investment is a small price to pay, if you are then able to your income by a thousand dollars per month for the rest of your career.

Q: How long does KOBIDO training take?

A: KOBIDO levels 1 through 3 certified training should take around 2 months per level to complete. Some students who are able to dedicate more than the average amount of time studying can often complete these levels in a single month each. After finishing level 3 a student can schedule for the next level 4 and higher training  sessions which are taught in person by KOBIDO master Dr. Shogo Mochizuki in Japan. Although a student will have the knowledge they need to provide a full KOBIDO treatment after 6 months, it’s highly recommended to take at least a full years time to study for best results.

Please keep in mind that KOBIDO is a traditional art form  that takes years to reach a master level. It is very important that your trained skills best represent Japanese culture and KOBIDO as an art and you can only advance in your study with the application of your training.

Q: Do I need to register as an apprentice to study KOBIDO?

A: Registering is not necessary to purchase the level 1 through 3 training packages. Anyone can purchase and self-study the techniques.

Registering as an apprentice member is required for the following; Receiving certification, taking exams, taking part in online 1-on-1 training, attending in-person training or workshops, receiving updates to training packages that were purchased in the past, and receiving access to the members store page for special limited edition packages.

Registering can be done at any time. Just contact us your request.

Q: What type of skincare products or should I use when performing KOBIDO?

A: Because KOBIDO involves so much work on the face and around sensitive areas, great care must be taken in selecting the correct skincare products for each treatment. Dr. Shogo Mochizuki and his former master worked together to create a line of skincare products that are specifically designed to work with KOBIDO treatments. These products continue to be improved on each year and are designed with the health of the client and practitioner in mind.

Many skincare products contain toxic or preservative ingredients that can cause issue with sensitive skin, or cause irritation with extended exposure. High quality products with natural ingredients specifically made for use on the face, like the KOBIDO line of products, offer not only the best experience for customers, but also reduce the risk irritation or skin damage for prolonged exposure day-to-day for the practitioners.

We suggest to use official KOBIDO skincare products. All training uses only the KOBIDO line of skincare products.

Q: What are some of the benefits of using KOBIDO skincare products during treatments?

A: Aside from the expected benefits of using high-quality natural products. There is also the benefit of earning educational credits, which can be used to receive discounts on other KOBIDO services and products.

Q: What are educational credits?

A: Practitioners and retailers who use and sell KOBIDO Skincare products earn credit towards different services and educational packages. This could mean discounts on membership fees, training packages, workshop tuition, and special training specific to the use of the products. These discounts are based off of the volume of purchase each month and are handled on an individual basis.

Q: How do I become a KOBIDO Skincare retailer?

A: If you are interested in becoming a retailer for our KOBIDO Skincare products all you need is to have begun your level 1 training. Please contact us if you are interested in carrying and selling KOBIDO Skincare products, and we can provide you with more information.

Q: Do I need to be a KOBIDO practitioner to be a KOBIDO Skincare retailer?

A: In order to ensure the best possible experience for customers, we require that KOBIDO Skincare retailers are also training, or trained in KOBIDO Traditional Japanese Facial massage.

Q: I’m a massage therapist, can I incorporate KOBIDO into my practice?

A: Depending on your local laws and regulations regarding massage therapy this can vary. Please check with your local rules and regulations to determine if facial massage is covered by your massage therapist license. In some cases, a separate license may be needed.

Q: At what level of study am I able to perform KOBIDO on paying clients?

A: We suggest, at the very minimum, being certified in Level 1 and being very familiar with the techniques taught there. It will provide the most basic techniques and allow you to put together a very simple facial treatment.

Increasing your training to the higher level courses will improve your techniques, the quality of your treatments, and the satisfaction of your clients.

Q: What is the difference between the 1-on-1 online training, and in-person training?

A: In-person training occurs in a school room environment where there can be up to 20 students at a time. Although the quality of the training is excellent, it means that personal time with the instructor is limited. These lessons focus on specific techniques and creating a complete experience from start to finish.

Online training is done with a single student and is excellent for technique review

Q: I have old versions of KOBIDO training materials, how do I get the updates?

A: Registered apprentice members receive updated training materials for free, or at a substantial discount.

Please contact us if you would like to receive the latest versions of books, DVDs, or other training materials. Shipping fees may apply in the case of heavy materials.

If you have books or videos from before 2007, there is a good chance that those materials have been updated. Please contact us for more information.

Q: I`m visiting Japan, can I receive a KOBIDO treatment while there?

A: There are many men and women KOBIDO practitioners in Japan. Most of the practitioners here do not speak English and operate their own businesses. Although we can suggest someone for you, it will be up to you to schedule a treatment with them. Some practitioners are very busy and may be booked more than a month in advance, please keep this in mind.

Q: What form of payments are accepted?

A: For international orders (outside of Japan) we can only accept payments through Paypal. We will send an invoice to your email and you can pay at your convenience.

Q: How long does it take to receive my order?

A: Generally our orders will ship out within 1-2 days of receiving payments. Sometimes there are delays with materials, in these cases we will do our best to notify you of the issue and will work to get your order filled as soon as we can.

We ship using EMS. Most packages will arrive at their destination within 1 business week of being shipped.

Q: I have a question that hasn’t been covered here. What should I do?

A: Don’t panic. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. It may take a day or two to get back to you, but we will do our best to answer your questions in a timely manner.

Q: I emailed you and you haven’t replied. What gives?

A: We are terribly sorry if your concerns or emails have gone un-answered. Dr. Shogo and his few employees are kept very busy handling orders, providing lessons, and updating training materials for customers and apprentices around the world. Sometimes messages get missed or responses delayed, and for that we must apologize. If you have not heard back from us after several days please send us a reminder email and we will do our best.

Thank you all for your support.
